Course Description:
Students use Microsoft Office Project
Professional 2007 and Project Web Access 2007 to initiate,
plan, execute, monitor and control projects (aligning with Project Management
Institute best practices) in an efficient and reliable manner
within an EPM environment. Students learn to utilize all aspects
of an EPM solution to increase communication and coordination
between both project team members and executives. The course
begins with creating a resource-loaded project plan, then
flows through the process of optimizing the plan and updating
it with progress, and concludes with analyzing the project
using various reporting methods.
Courseware and Certification:
This course uses Microsoft Official
Curriculum ("MOC") courseware and prepares students for the
Microsoft exam
70-633 TS: Microsoft Office Project Server 2007, Managing Projects which counts as credit toward the Microsoft certification
Microsoft Certified
Technology Specialist: Enterprise Project Management with Microsoft Office Project Server 2007.
This is the second course in the Microsoft Office Project 2007 Official Curriculum series.
PM Resource Group is
also an authorized Prometric Testing Center. So students may take the 70-633 exam immediately following the
class. There is an additional $125 exam fee.

- Individuals who are required to use Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007 and Project
Web Access to create, update, manage and report progress of project plans
- Individuals who manage project-related risks, issues and documents
- Individuals who want to take exam 70-633 TS: Microsoft Office Project Server 2007, Managing Projects
- Project Managers, Program Managers, members of the PMO, and other stakeholders participating in the deployment or refinement of
an EPM solution
Course Objectives:
In this course, students will learn
how to:
- Initiate or plan for a project using Project Web Access
("PWA")
- Create a project plan in Project Professional using an enterprise project template
- Scope and schedule the plan - deliverables, tasks, and milestones
- Staff the plan and assign resources to tasks - work, cost, generic, budget and team resources
- Optimize and publish project plans to the enterprise
- Process timesheets, administrative time, and status updates from team members
- Update project plans with team member progress and changes
- Track project issues, risks and deliverables
- Measure performance and report progress using Project
Professional and PWA
- Describe the closing process for a project and propose changes to enterprise project templates
based on lessons learned from a project life cycle
